BIO

BJ (Betty-Jo) Lecours is a multi-discipline artist from Charlottetown, PEI. She has an M.A. in Art Education from Concordia University in Montreal, for which she was awarded a SSHRC GSM Scholarship and a Faculty of Fine Arts Merit Scholarship. She also completed a B.F.A. in Studio Arts at Concordia in 2010 with a shared concentration in oil painting and installation.

BJ is a dynamic Artist and Educator dedicated to arts accessibility and finding creative ways to inject art into public life. Her work taps into the power of art and storytelling to connect,  inspire and transform. She has a particular interest in oral history and working with existing oral history projects to promote and reinterpret them through public art initiatives.

BJ  has received two PEI Council for the Arts creation grants for Emerging Artists, as well as a Forum Jeunesse Bursary from Atelier Circulaire. Her work is included in the Charlottetown “Art in the City” collection as well as the Colart Collection of emerging Canadian artists in Montreal.
